Analgesics

1. Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid)

-not suitable for pregnant mother and children

2. Paracetamol

-to relief mild to moderate pain such as headache, fever

-can be given to children

3. Codeine

-strong analgesics

-may cause drowsiness after taken

Antibiotics

-Penicillin

• Extracted from fungus Penicillin notatum
• To be cure tuberculosis (TB), pneumonia, gonorrhea, syphilis, meningitis and middle ear infections

-Streptomycin

• Produced by soil bacteria of the streptomyces griseous
• To cure tuberculosis (TB), whooping cough and pneumonia

Psychotherapeutic medicines

Stimulant

• Increase or maintain alertness of the central nervous system
• To counteract fatigue and elevate mood

Antidepressant

• Tranquiller, barbiturates-Treat depression
• Tranquiller-To calm down a person, reduce tension, anxiety and fear
• Barbiturates used to make people sedate, relax and sleepy.

Antipsychotic

• To treat psychiatric illness such as schizophrenia and mood disorder
• Chlorpromazine, haloperidol, clozapine
